Snowdonia Travel Directions

Getting to Snowdonia

By Car
FROM THE NORTH AND EAST
Getting to Snowdonia is easy thanks to it being serviced by 2 main routes into North Wales. The A55 coastal dual carriageway provides the quickest and clearest route of any along the Northern coastline of Wales, with numerous drop off routes to approach Snowdonia from the North. Leave the A55 at Llandudno Junction and take the A470 south to the reach Llanwrst and then Betws-y-Coed. Alternatively, continue along the A55 and leave at the Bangor junction but head south on the A5 to approach Snowdonia from the North, with Bethesda your first point of call.

FROM THE EAST AND SOUTH
The M54 through Shropshire provides a quick link onto the A5, which offers another route of approach. Passing through Oswestry and Llangollen, the A5 continues right through Snowdonia, through the likes of Betws-y-Coed, Capel Curig and Bethesda and through across to Anglesey. This can be a slower route at times due to the A5 being only single carriageway.
