Details: The inspiring and historic Plas Tan-yr-Allt – we call it Tanny – opened just before Easter 2005 to provide elegant, en-suite accommodation for guests. Completely renovated over the last two years this unique country house hotel is the perfect place to relax in comfort in the midst of beautiful scenery.

Built in 1800 and home to the poet Shelley (1812-13) the house looks out over the Glaslyn Estuary within easy reach of Porthmadog and on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. Set in 47 acres of wooded Cliffside, Plas Tan-yr-allt is a stylish base from which to explore this most spectacular part of Wales before returning to country house comfort.

The Bedrooms
Each room at Plas Tan-yr-allt has been individually designed to reflect its character so browse the following list and see which suits your mood. All rooms have a television with DVD player which also plays music, so please feel free to borrow music CDs or DVDs from our collection in the library, and tea and coffee making facilities are provided. All of the bathrooms have been newly fitted and have slate floors with underfloor heating except for the Billington room which is carpeted. Even more importantly the water comes from our own Spring in the mountains behind so is wonderfully soft and pure.

Madocks
Situated on the first floor, at the front of the house, Madocks is a King Size Double with two south facing windows with views over the Traeth – the marsh land reclaimed by Madocks - sea and mountains and one east facing window with views over the Library lawn to the woods. Traditionally the principal bedroom in the house with domed ceiling and a spacious feel.

Miss Hilda
Named for Hilda Greaves who restored the house early in the 20th century it is a Double Room situated at the front of the county house with views over the garden to the sea and an intriguing west window over the fireplace.

Shelley's Theatre
Named for Tanny’s most famous resident, the poet Shelley, as this room reputedly formed part of a small theatre in which he would recite his works. Almost certainly the oldest part of the house – pre-dating Madocks’ work in the late 18th century this atmospheric room has ancient oak beams and a splendid King Size four poster bed. It Overlooks the library lawn and the majestic beech trees which surround the county house hotel.

Dining at Tan-Yr-Allt
