About Pensarn Hall Holiday Cottage
A warm welcome to Pensarn Hall. Pensarn, built in 1895, has always been a much loved family home as well as been steeped in history. It’s first owner was a good friend of David Lloyd George, Prime Minister 1916-1922, who frequently visited the house. As you can see, it retains many of it’s original features, tastefully blended with modern facilities.

With 2 large lounges, dinning room that can seat up to 15 people, kitchen & breakfast room and large gardens Pensarn Hall is ideal for large groups wishing to holiday together but want their own space.

We also offer a king size four poster bedroom with triple aspect and views over the gardens, the Artro Estuary and Shell Island beyond. Indeed, all our rooms have pleasant aspects, some with garden views and some with more distant views.

Location
Pensarn Hall is set in a commanding position with views over the Artro Estuary and Shell Island; we even have our own railway station. The Cambrian Coaster, arguably the most scenic train journey in Britain comes into Pensarn Station. You have to hold your hand out to ask it to stop and it will take you North to Minffordd just 1 mile from Portmeirion, Porthmadog, Criccieth and eventually Pwllheli. South will take you to Barmouth and over the beautiful Mawddach Estuary to the picturesque Victorian seaside town of Aberdovey and onto Aberystwyth.

Walking in Snowdonia
For walkers we are ideally located midway between Snowdon and Cadair Idris with the Rhinogau on our doorstep. As all three mountain ranges have their own individual climates our location allows you to see which has the best weather before planning your day. For those of you looking for solitude the Rhinogau is probably one of the best places in Wales, a popular walk being from Cwm Bychan up the Roman Steps. As keen walkers we can also advise you on other fantastic hill walks such as Cnicht or Moel Hebog

Relaxing
For those of you looking for a relaxing holiday there is plenty to take your mind off the pressures of life.

Local Attractions

Harlech
Famous for its dramatically sited castle Harlech is a small town with antique shops, cafés and restaurants, a good number of them with glorious views over the castle and beach. Harlech also has its own theatre and Sculpture Trail.

Portmeirion – Mediterranean Style Village
Definitely worth a visit, the ideal place to stroll around, relax and have a coffee. To get the best out of your visit you may like to treat yourself to lunch at the Portmeirion Hotel.

Pizza & Beach
Take a 20 minute walk along the Artro Estuary to Llandanwg Beach with its 14th century church and views of the Lleyn Peninsula and Snowdonia Mountains and enjoy a freshly made Pizza & Salad on the beach.

Fantastic Beach
Harlech with its 4 mile long sandy beach is the ideal place to get away from the crowds and lie in the sun. Bobbing around in the sea while looking up at the Snowdonia Mountains is stunning.

Bird Watching
There are over 140 species of birds to be found in Meirionydd throughout the year with a very rich flora & sea life thus providing interest all year round. If you wish to learn more about the area we can organise guided trips with our local wildlife expert Brian MacDonald.

Shell Island
Just 2 miles away is Shell Island, a causal island with impressive sand dunes, a long sandy beach and of course shells!

Short Walks
If you do not feel like hiking up mountains there are plenty of picturesque short walks locally, which you can enjoy and that will give you a better feel for the area.

Picnic
We think the best way to enjoy the beach or the country is to have a picnic, which we can provide for a small charge. Being expert picnickers we can also advise on the best places to go

Steam Railway
Travel back in time and take the Welsh Highland Railway from Caernarfon to Rhyd Ddu (near Beddgelert). While in Caernarfon you can also visit the castle or take a boat trip on the Menai Straights. Other famous railways in the area include the Snowdon Mountain Railway, Ffestiniog, Tal-y-Llyn and Fairbourne.

The pleasure we get from having a Guest House is seeing our guests enjoying their stay and falling in love with the area as we have. So if you need any advice on planning your break please do not hesitate to ask.
